36% of iOS users would consider switching to Android
Out of 1,003 Americans who got surveyed, 498 used Apple phones, while 505 used Android devices. 61% of them were male and 39% were female. 19% were Gen Z, 44% millennials, 24% Gen X, and 13% baby boomers.
That being said, the source notes that Android users who would consider defecting to iOS perceive iPhones to be more secure. Not all of them, of course, but that seems to be the general consensus. That is a bit odd, as an average iOS user felt only a little safer than an Android user, based on research. The difference is very small, 76% vs 74%. The source also notes that iOS 16 is attracting Android users, as it includes many security features. iOS 16 is still not out, though, at least not in its stable form.
iOS users are more diligent about safety
The study also revealed that iOS users are more diligent about safety. They’re more likely to go for a six-digit pin than a four-digit one. They’re also more likely to use facial recognition and monitor location tracking. What’s interesting is that iOS users lose their phones more often than Android users.
Interestingly enough, the survey didn’t really share much information about why Android users would switch to Android, despite a rather high percentage of them would consider doing that. This survey was done from the security aspect, so that’s probably why. This survey actually gives us great security insight. We’ve already mentioned some of those, but the full report does have a lot more information to share. You’ll find out what percentage of people use fingerprint scanners, patterns, voice detection, and so on. You can check out Beyond Identity’s full report by clicking here. The results are quite interesting, to say the least.
