‘Post’ is a Twitter alternative created by a former Waze CEO
What is ‘Post’? Well, it’s a new platform that is supposed to create a “civil place to debate ideas; learn from experts, journalists, individual creators, and each other; converse freely; and have some fun”. At a high-level, this new social media platform is described as a “Social Platform for Real People, Real News, and Civil Conversations”. Based on LinkedIn, the platform launched back in May 2022, but it didn’t really get the attention until recently. Noam Bardin was the CEO of Waze for 12 years. It was in that position until 2021. Following his departure, he obviously dedicated his time to creating ‘Post’. Now, ‘Post’ is obviously inspired by the early days of Twitter, and social media in general. This is the opening post: “Remember when social media was fun, introduced you to big ideas and cool people, and actually made you smarter? Remember when it didn’t waste your time and make you angry or sad? When you could disagree with someone without being threatened or insulted? We want to bring that back with Post.” Do note that “posts of any length” will be supported on the platform. You’ll also get the option to “comment, like, share, and repost content with your opinion”. Content moderation will also be in full effect. Post set rules in place, and they will be “rigorously enforced”, and the community will have a role to play in that. You can see what the UI looks like in the tweet below.
