Galaxy S21 FE could go official soon
Samsung was initially expected to launch the Galaxy S21 FE alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 at its Galaxy Unpacked event earlier this month. But that obviously didn’t happen as the company wasn’t ready with the device. It had to delay the new Fan Edition (FE) handset because of chip shortage. The Korean firm apparently couldn’t source enough Snapdragon 888 chips from Qualcomm to proceed with the timely development of the device. Perhaps that’s why it decided to use its in-house Exynos 2100 SoC in some markets. Anyways, things look brighter now as the new flagship killer appears to be just around the corner. According to the Korean publication The Elec, Samsung will begin the mass production of the Galaxy S21 FE next month. The original schedule was set for May, so that marks a four-month delay. The report further adds that the company initially planned to release the device in the third quarter but the entire schedule has been delayed by about four months. But that’s quite unlikely as that would mean a market release earliest by November. The device, meanwhile, is said to break cover on September 8th. Perhaps Samsung would hurry with the production of the initial batch of the Galaxy S21 FE. If that’s true, we might see it go on sale by the end of next month.

Samsung has high hopes from the Galaxy S21 FE to breathe life into its smartphone business after a disastrous performance from its high-end siblings. The company struggled to move units off shelves as it sold only about 13.5 million units of the Galaxy S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra combined during the first half of this year. It is now apparently aiming to sell almost that many S21 FE units. In fact, it has adjusted the target following the chip shortage. The Korean behemoth was initially hoping to sell more than 15 million units of its new FE model, the report suggests. The Galaxy S21 FE is the only premium conventional smartphone coming from Samsung throughout the remainder of this year. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 foldables aren’t your everyday phones, certainly not for the masses. But the company is aiming to sell around six to seven million units of those as well. Time will tell if the Korean giant manages to achieve its sales target. It is having tough times in the smartphone business recently and has lost the No. 1 spot to Chinese rival Xiaomi.
Galaxy S22 series to enter mass production in November
The latest report also reveals that Samsung will begin the mass production of its next-gen flagships, the Galaxy S22 series (name not official) in November. The new devices will reportedly arrive in January next year. Well, that could just be a calculated guess based on the production and release schedule of the Galaxy S21 series this year. But the rumor mill will surely start churning out more information about the Galaxy S22 series in the coming months.
