According to the report, all these shuffles are due to the ongoing chip shortage issue. The tech industry has been hit hard by this unprecedented semiconductor problem, effects of which are now starting to surface rapidly.
Galaxy S21 FE to launch in January, Galaxy S22 likely delayed
The Galaxy S21 FE has been in the news for the better part of this year but the phone continues to elude the market. We have so far had three possible launch dates for the device, one each in August, September, and October. There are still more than three weeks left in October but the chances of the Galaxy S21 FE breaking cover on any of these days is null. That’s because Samsung itself has been recently getting rid of any official evidence of the phone’s existence. These actions suggested that the long-rumored Fan Edition (FE) device will never see the light of day. But it appears the company hasn’t given up on it as yet. Samsun may have been forced to delay the phone due to chip shortage but it is seemingly determined to sell a phone named Galaxy S21 FE. The launch in January 2022 may be a quiet one though. The company could simply announce the phone with a press release, like some budget handset. Availability could also be limited to certain markets, at least at launch. The device could arrive in more regions down the line. This shuffling, however, means a delayed launch for the Galaxy S22 series. Samsung wouldn’t want its new flagships to compete against the Galaxy S21 FE. The company would be looking for at least a one-month gap between the two devices. As such, the Galaxy S22 series could arrive in February. Perhaps a week or so before the MWC 2022, like old times. The event kicks off on February 28th, where the new devices could be on the show before going on sale globally. Samsung surely knows what is best for its business in these trying times. We will keep you posted with any new developments regarding the Galaxy S21 FE and Galaxy S22 launch.
