The Galaxy S22 is said to offer slower, 25W charging
According to the tipster, the Galaxy S22 will offer 25W charging, the same as its predecessor. The Galaxy S22+ and S22 Ultra, on the other hand, will ship with 45W charging support. Neither of these devices will include a charger, though, so keep that in mind. Yes, all three phones are expected to offer wireless charging, though we don’t have any information on that at the moment. It’s possible Samsung won’t boost wireless charging on either device. For those of you who are out of the loop, the Galaxy S22 is also expected to offer a smaller battery than its predecessor. The Galaxy S22+ may follow in the same footsteps, while the S22 Ultra is said to keep the same 5,000mAh unit. Offering 45W fast charging on the S22 Ultra is the right move for Samsung. It’s not as fast as many of the competing devices, but it’s considerably better than 25W charging. The other two phones won’t be as lucky, it seems.
Is 25W too slow? Well, it depends
Many people would argue that 25W charging is simply too slow compared to what else is out there. Others would argue that it’s not important. And it isn’t, in the great scheme of things, if these devices manage to get you through the day, and you end up charging them overnight. The Galaxy S22 Ultra will almost certainly be able to do that, even for power users. The Galaxy S22 and S22+, on the other hand, well, we’ll have to wait and see. All three smartphones are expected to arrive in January next year. The mass production is tipped to start in November, so the timeline fits. Besides, the Galaxy S21 series also arrived in January… this year.
