Galaxy Xcover 6 Pro teardown
The removable back panel of the Galaxy Xcover 6 Pro has a rubber gasket on the inside to keep water out of sipping into the battery compartment. Samsung has also pasted graphite film here to help dissipate heat through the back. The battery itself comes off on prying with just your fingertip. We can see a liquid damage indicator underneath the battery, while the SIM and micro SD slots are next to it, like in the good old days. The screen isn’t as easy to remove but with some heat and careful prying, it comes off without damage. Once it’s gone, we have to unsnap some connectors and unscrew some standard Phillips screws before we can lift off the massive middle frame. It’s a huge solid piece that gives the Galaxy Xcover 6 Pro much of its strength. The mid-frame also has some graphite film and a vapor chamber to help with thermal management on the phone. Under the mid-frame are the phone’s main motherboard and sub-board. The main board is held down by two standard Philips screws. It has a graphite film as well, with some more thermal paste on the processor. Samsung is taking extreme care for heat dissipation on the Galaxy Xcover 6 Pro. The company has also kept the 3.5mm headphone jack separate from the rest of the components, making repairs easy while also helping with water resistance. The sub-board has only one standard Philips screw holding it in place, while the bottom speaker housing has none. We can see rubber meshes and gaskets around all holes and openings to keep water out. Overall, the Galaxy Xcover 6 Pro is quite easy to disassemble and repair. PKB Reviews gave it a repairability score of 8 out of 10. The ease of screen and battery replacement helped it achieve that score. You can watch the full teardown and re-assembly of the Galaxy Xcover 6 Pro in the video below.
