The Google Pixel Watch AMA surfaced on Twitter with more information
Do note that the test Pixel Watch unit that was left behind doesn’t seem to have an OS on it, so this AMA is strictly about the physical aspect of the device. First and foremost, do note that the user tried to charge the watch, but without success. The person who found this watch is known as ‘tagtech414’ on Twitter, and he said that he tried several ways to charge the watch. He used Power Share from the Galaxy Z Fold 3, two unnamed Qi chargers, and the Pixel 6 in order to try to charge it. He was not successful. Now, it’s possible Google limited its charging to some internal sources, as this is not the final product. It would be odd for the device not to support Qi charging, and reverse wireless charging from the Pixel 6. Do note that the watch did detect charging, but stopped immediately. This basically confirms that its charging is limited to some internal units.
The user compared this smartwatch with two other devices, from Apple & Samsung
The user said that the Pixel Watch is “roughly 1/2″ thick and 1 1/2″ diameter”, which translates to approximately 12.7mm and 38.1mm, respectively. You can see the watch compared to a 40mm Apple Watch and a 46mm Galaxy Watch (Classic) in the image below.
In case you’re wondering, a 40mm Galaxy Watch 4 measures 40.4 x 39.3 x 9.8mm, excluding the health sensor. The Apple Watch Series 7 has a depth of 10.7mm. That should give you an idea of how big the Pixel Watch is. It was also mentioned that the watch feels “very premium”, and that its back is quite curved, so that there’s less contact with the wrist. He also mentioned that the rotating crown feels very similar to Apple’s.
You can also check out its speaker grill, and bezels
He also took a picture of the speaker grill, which is located on the left side of the watch. You can check it out below.
Another picture that the user took shows the bezels on the Pixel Watch. There is some bezel there, but it doesn’t appear to be too thick. This smartwatch doesn’t come with a bezel-less screen, though, that’s for sure.
