The Galaxy A33 5G is initially receiving the July update in Asia. The rollout has already hit units in India, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, and a few other countries in the region (via). The new firmware version for the phone is A336EDXU2AVG2. The official changelog from Samsung mentions “stability improvements” along with this month’s vulnerability fixes. The Galaxy A33 5G is fairly new to the market, so the company may be making some optimizations to the software for more reliable performance. The July SMR for the Galaxy A52 is also first rolling out in some Asian countries, including India and Russia. The updated firmware version for the phone is A525FXXU4BVG1. Some un-detailed “stability improvements” are part of this update too. The latest security update for the Galaxy A52 5G and Galaxy A52s 5G, meanwhile, is currently live in Europe. The two 2021 premium mid-range 5G offerings from Samsung are picking up the new SMR with firmware versions A526BXXU1CVG2 and A528BXXS1CVG2, respectively. The former is gaining additional improvements while the latter is only getting the latest vulnerability fixes. This month’s SMR contains fixes for more than 60 vulnerabilities. The majority of these issues affected Samsung’s devices, with some of them compromising its Knox security platform. The Korean firm said the security flaws could enable attackers to bypass an affected device’s security. The July SMR also patched 20-odd Android OS issues, including three critical vulnerabilities.

The July security update reaches more Galaxy smartphones

Samsung started rolling out the July SMR to its devices early this month. It has already seeded the new security update to most of the eligible flagship models. As those updates reach more markets around the world, the company is also rapidly updating its budget and mid-range devices with the latest vulnerability fixes. The Galaxy A33 5G, Galaxy A52, Galaxy A52 5G, and the Galaxy A52s 5G should receive the July SMR globally in the coming weeks. You will get a notification once the OTA (over the air) package becomes available for your unit. You can also manually check for updates from the Settings app.
