What are the latest Sony Walkman devices?
Now, the two devices in question are hardly cheap but both are less expensive than initial expectations. The more affordable of the two is the Sony NW-WM1AM2, priced at $1399.99. That’s compared to the price expectation set at the announcement of $1600. The flagship model NW-WM1ZM2, conversely, is priced at around $3699.99. And that’s as compared to the expected price of $4200. Aside from pricing, however, not much else has changed. Sony built the more premium of the two gadgets from oxygen-free copper plated in gold. The more affordable option is built from anodized aluminum. Sony says that the build materials for the NW-WM1ZM2 not only help aesthetically set it apart from the more affordable option. It also improves that sound quality thanks to its lower ground resistance, the company says. In terms of other specifications, both gadgets are running an OS based on Android 11. That’s with a battery life of up to 40 hours while listening at a high-definition 96kHz. Screen size is another aspect that’s the same. Both gadgets offer a larger 5-inch display compared to their predecessors. Each also offers dual headphone jacks, expandable storage, and USB-C for charging and transfers. For audio, both models support WAV files up to 384kHz/32bit, FLAC playback up to 384kHz/24bit, and streaming media playback up to DSD256. The walkmans support Full MQA decoding as well. And Sony DSEE algorithm is part of the package too. The algorithm helps to upscale CD quality 44.1kHz/16bit audio tracks up to 192kHz/32bit. Finally, internal wiring supplied by Kimber Kable, as well as Sony-designed DAC and amp chips, is part of the package too. Ensuring that these new Sony Walkman audio gadgets offer a far better experience than even the best apps on the most expensive smartphones can offer.
