You can post links on your Instagram stories, but not posts
There are a lot of people whose business runs on Instagram, making it crucial that people be able to add links to external sites. It’s effortless to do so on platforms such as Snapchat, Facebook, and Twitter, but Instagram has been holding out. If you want to navigate the user away, you will have to add the text “link in the bio” to your posts. Now, it seems like Instagram is looking to get with the times by letting everyone create links. You don’t have to be verified or have 10,000 followers. The catch is that you can’t post links on your feed posts; you can only add a link in your Instagram stories. Instagram hasn’t shown any interest in letting people add links to posts yet.
Adding links is easy
If you’re anxious to add links to your stories, it’s pretty simple to do, especially if you make stories a lot. After you choose what kind of story you want it to be, you’ll have the option to add things like stickers and other goodies. Go to the stickers option (at the very top after you take the picture) and look for the “link” sticker. From there, just paste the link and enjoy!
Instagram is still taking precautions with this feature
While Instagram is making this feature available to the masses, it seems that the company is being very careful about it. You can add links to your YouTube page, your LinkedIn, or whatever, but Instagram is worried about people using this power for evil. The company says that it will keep an eye out for people posting hate speech or misinformation. If Instagram spots an account doing this repeatedly, that account will lose the ability to post links.
Instagram is going through some changes
It should be well known that Instagram is making changes to the platform. These changes revolve around video, as the head of the company, Adam Mosseri, stated so back in June. He said in a livestream that Instagram is “no longer a photo-sharing app.” Thus, we’ve been seeing some slight changes to the platform. One example is the company getting rid of IGTV and letting people post videos up to 60 minutes in length. We’re not sure if there will be any more changes in the future, but hopefully, there will be.
