OriginaldoBo came up with this idea, and he’s the one who flew the drone. He actually joked around, saying that the Pixel 6 Pro could be a better camera for this drone than a GoPro.

A Pixel 6 Pro got strapped to a drone, and the results are great

You can, of course, see the footage for yourself. He shared it via his official Twitter account, and a direct link is embedded below. As you can see, the video footage is extremely smooth. The drone is actually doing some heavy lifting for stabilization as well, in addition to the phone itself.

— OriginaldoBo (@OriginaldoBo) October 26, 2021 What managed to surprise us quite a bit is the dynamic range of the video, despite the fact this is a drone we’re talking about. It moved quite fast, but that didn’t manage to mess with the video quality. Twitter did, however, mess with the video quality, as it managed to compress this clip to the ground. We advise you not to watch it in full screen on a monitor. This is not the only video that the pilot shared. He also showed everyone how he attached the Pixel 6 Pro to a drone. That video is quite short, and it’s embedded below. He basically just used a large clip, that’s it.

Don’t try this at home, if you’re not a pro

We, of course, would not recommend you to do this. Why? Well, if you’re not really confident in your drone-flying skills, you could easily crash it, and ruin a $900 smartphone. If you don’t care, and are willing to risk it, well… it’s up to you. The Pixel 6 Pro is Google’s most powerful smartphone to date. It launched alongside the Pixel 6 quite recently, and Google started shipping units to consumers already. The device is not exactly light, it weighs 210 grams, so keep that in mind if you’re planning on attaching it to a drone. This handset comes with Google’s first mobile SoC, the Google Tensor. It also comes with a brand new main camera sensor, and Android 12 out of the box. We’ve actually already reviewed both the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, in case you’d like to know more about them.
