For better or worse, there are thinner bezels
OEMs have been thinning out their bezels for years now, and that trend has brought on the dreaded notch. Popularized by Apple (what isn’t nowadays?), the notch disrupts the display in order to house the essential sensors like the proximity sensor and the front-facing camera. While this trend has affected smartphones, tablets have remained the same. This is partly because no one really cares about having a fullscreen tablet. Also, bezels give you somewhere on the tablet to grip. Regardless, Samsung hit us with the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra and its notched display. Even though no one really asked for it, Samsung has been putting thinner bezels in its tablets year over year. With the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra, the screen is pushed so close to the edge that the front-facing camera juts out just a bit.
Also, there are the front-facing cameras
The notch on the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra houses the front-facing cameras. What makes this setup different from the other two variants is the fact that there are two cameras. One is a 12MP wide-angle camera and the other is a 12MP ultrawide camera. This dual-camera setup is mostly to help with video calls. While in a video call, you have the ability to have the camera automatically track your face. Having both cameras helps the tablet keep track of your face, but it, unfortunately, leads to more space being taken up.
What will the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra pack?
The Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra is the most premium of the Tab S8 tablets. It has a 14.6-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2960 x 1848 that runs at 120Hz. With such a big screen, it will need a big battery; the 11,200mAh battery keeps the lights on. When it comes to RAM and storage, there are three options. The lowest-tier option has 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Next, there’s one with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The highest-tier offering has 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra combines great specs with a killer design to deliver an all-around professional package. It starts at $1,099 and you can pre-order it starting today.
